McLube PTFE Dry Film Dispersions

Description:

McLube PTFE Dry Film Dispersions have a low coefficient of friction allowing for a dry film lubricant with super performance attributes such as thermal and chemical stability, cleanliness and excellent slip-stick properties. PTFE Dry Film Dispersions are available as 25%, 15%, and 5% dispersions in isopropyl alcohol (IPA). They will provide an extremely low coefficient of friction, are chemically inert and thermally stable to 615°F.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance................Translucent, milky-white liquid
  • Dispersing medium....................Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Specific gravity.....25% Dispersion.....0.94
  • ............................15% Dispersion.....0.87
  • ..............................5% Dispersion.....0.81
  • Particle Size................................Less than 10 Microns
  • Melting Point..............................615°F

Application Method:

All surfaces should be clean and dry prior to applying McLube PTFE Dispersions. They are designed to be diluted prior to application. The specific application will dictate the proper dilution that is appropriate for the product. McLube PTFE Dispersions can be applied by dipping, wiping, brushing or spraying. Care should be taken that the product is agitated prior to using, because the PTFE particles will settle during storage and occasionally when using the product. The applied coating will air cure in a matter of minutes and provide a colorless dry film coating with a low coefficient of friction, antistick properties and excellent slip stick properties.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet should be reviewed before using the product. The precautions to be observed in handling McLube PTFE Dispersions are those related to the isopropanol in the product. This solvent is flammable and thus the product should be kept away from heat, sparks and flames. Adequate ventilation should be employed, especially in enclosed areas. The active ingredient is essentially nontoxic, but heating it above 550°F may cause formation of potentially harmful substances. Smoking should not be permitted while using McLube PTFE Dispersions and contamination of tobacco products should be avoided.
