MAC 1123 High Gloss Mold Release Agent

Description:

MAC-1123 is a release product designed to provide enhanced surface finish and excellent release characteristics for composite molded parts and materials. The mold is ready-to-use immediately after application. Suitable for use with epoxies (thermosets and prepregs), phenolic, polyester, and thermoplastic compounds.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance.......................Clear, colorless liquid
  • Diluent............................................Heptane
  • Specific gravity.................................0.72
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.).....................6.0

Application Method:

MAC-1123 can be used over semi-permanent release products and mold sealers to improve molding performance and part appearance. The product should be applied by spraying, brushing or wiping with a clean, dry, lint- free cloth so that a thin, wet, continuous film is deposited. Initially, apply two coats, allowing five minutes between coats for solvent evaporation. After the final coat no cure is required. Molding can begin immediately. For best results the mold should be re-coated after every pull.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet, which accompanies each shipment, should be reviewed before using MAC-1123. The precautions to be observed in handling MAC-1123 are those related to the heptane solvent in the product. The solvent is flammable, and thus, the product should be kept away from heat, sparks, and flames. Adequate ventilation should be employed, especially in enclosed areas. Care should be taken that good industrial hygiene practices are observed when using the product. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
