McLube 1829 General Purpose Water Based Mold Release Agent

Description:

McLube 1829 is a water dilutable emulsion of a fluorochemical/resin mixture intended for use as a mold release agent for plastic molding processes and as an anti-tack coating for plastic parts. This product represents an economically attractive replacement for the conventional release and anti-stick/anti-tack agents used in the rubber industry and at the same time offers superior properties to such agents.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance................Opaque, white to off-white emulsion
  • Dispersing medium.....................Water
  • Specific gravity............................1.01
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.)..............8.4

Application Method:

McLube 1829 is a concentrate and is intended to be diluted with water prior to application. A dilution rate of one part McLube to four parts water is suggested as a starting point, particularly while a mold is being conditioned. It may then be possible to use higher dilutions and still achieve excellent release results. Although McLube 1829 is a stable emulsion, as are the various dilutions, some separation may occur on standing. It is, therefore, recommended that the product and its dilutions be agitated prior to, and periodically during use. For optimum results, the surface to which McLube 1829 is applied should be clean and free of any oily residue or other release coating. The diluted product can be applied by conventional means such as wiping or spraying, with the latter preferred. Ideally, the surface being treated should be hot to allow the water to evaporate quickly.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet should be reviewed prior to using McLube 1829. McLube 1829 has a very low order of toxicity; however, good industrial practice suggests the use of safety glasses and gloves. Freezing of the product should be avoided.
