McLube 1700L Anti-Stick Coating

Description:

Solvent based, hard, dry, colorless, bonded PTFE release coating that is an effective anti-stick for metallic and non-metallic surfaces at temperatures up to 550°F. Proven to be effective with most rubber molding and manufacturing processes as well as process rolls and general lubrication to minimize build-up of processed material.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance................White, translucent dispersion
  • Dispersing medium.....................Solvent blend - heptane, ethanol, butyl acetate
  • Specific gravity............................0.78
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.)..............6.5

Application Method:

Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before applying McLube 1700L. All traces of prior release agents should be removed by washing with an appropiate solvent. McLube Mold Cleaner may be used. McLube 1700L is intended for use as supplied. Since the product is a dispersion of solid particles, agitation is required prior to use and periodically during use. Any conventional application method can be used for the product - spraying, dipping, wiping or brushing. A thin, even coating should be applied, and after the solvent has evaporated, a second coat is recommended. The double coating is suggested for start-up on a clean surface. For the first few cycles, a single coat of McLube 1700L is recommended prior to each cycle. Once the mold is conditioned, several cycles per application should be obtainable, and the mold surface should stay cleaner longer.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet for McLube 1700L should be reviewed before using the product. The precautions to be observed in handling McLube 1700L are those related to the solvent blend in the product - heptane, ethanol, butyl acetate. These solvents are flammable, and thus, the product should be kept away from heat, sparks and flames. Use only with adequate ventilation, especially in enclosed areas. The active ingredient is essentially nontoxic, but heating above 550°F may cause formation of potentially harmful substances. Smoking should not be permitted while using McLube 1700L, and contamination of tobacco products should be avoided. Safety glasses and gloves are recommended when using this product.
