MAC 422 Water Based PTFE Dry Film Lubricant

MAC-422 dry film lubricant is an aqueous dispersion of finely divided PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) particles. It will air cure in minutes providing a durable, dry, colorless coating with excellent lubricating properties, a low coefficient of friction, and excellent stick-slip characteristics.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance................Translucent dispersion
  • Dispersing medium.....................Water
  • Specific gravity............................1.02
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.)..............8.4

Application Method:

MAC-422 is a PTFE dry film lubricant intended to be used as received but may be diluted with water depending on the application. Since the product settles on standing, agitation is required to maintain a uniform dispersion. Product should be applied to a clean, dry surface by spraying, wiping, dipping or brushing. External heat can be used to speed up drying time.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet for MAC-422 dry film lubricant should be reviewed prior to using this product. The active ingredients in MAC-422 are essentially nontoxic, but heating above 550°F may result in formation of potentially harmful substances. Smoking should not be permitted while using this product and contamination of tobacco products should be avoided. Safety glasses and gloves are recommended when using this product. Freezing of the product should be avoided, but if freezing occurs, it is possible to restore product uniformity with mechanical agitation.
