Slab-Dip & Anti-Tack Coating

McLube Release Coatings has developed a new water-based anti-tack/slab-dip coating for uncured and cured rubber compounds. MAC-1149 is extendable with additional amounts of water in order to fit the customer’s processing needs. No powders are used and the active ingredients dry clear. Passing of Dr. James D. Brady

GLEN MILLS, PA — Dr. James D. Brady died peacefully on April 10, 2015, with his loving family at his side. He was 93.

Dr. Brady, born in Ruscom, Ontario, Canada, spent many years as Technical Director at the McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc., located in Aston, PA, before his retirement in 2006.

After graduating from Assumption College (now University of West Ontario), Jim did post-graduate work at Wayne University (now Wayne State) in Detroit. Jim then earned his PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University.

Jim was a long-time member of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church. He was a scientist with a keen intellect. Jim was a voracious reader and seeker of knowledge. He saw no inconsistencies regarding his scientific pursuits, his thirst for knowledge and his unshakable Christian faith. Rather, he found that each strengthened the others. Jim loved his family dearly as he did so many others.

Jim’s survivors include his two sons, Doug and his wife Isabel of St. Croix, USVI, and Keith and his wife Debbie of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren Sasha Brady, Meryl Brady Johnson and husband Jeff, Christian Brady, Kaitlyn Brady Dombrowski and husband Kevin, and Christopher Brady; and great-grandson James Dombrowski due to enter this world on April 22. Jim is also survived by his brother William J. (Bill) Brady and wife Mary Ann of London, Ontario, and their daughters Linda Barnard and Laura Pate; and sister-in-law June Brady of Windsor, Ontario, and her sons Alan and Kevin Brady, and daughter Kathleen Heuchan.

The family has suggested donations to Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 or to the Benevolent Care Fund, Maris Grove, 100 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342.

PRODUCTS:

McLube 1777 A water dilutable dispersion of solid active ingredients (PTFE) which is particularly effective for release of hard-to-release binder systems. This product must be mixed prior to application. Thermally stable to 550ºF. The coating exhibits a low coefficient of friction, which makes it an excellent dry lubricant.

MAC-841 A water dilutable release coating for silicone rubber. It is a production proven emulsion of a film forming resin that cures to a clear, colorless coating with excellent release and anti-stick characteristics. Thermally stable to 1000ºF. A great release for hard to reach press surfaces.

MAC-718 A water dilutable emulsion of a fluorochemical/resin mixture intended for use as a release coating on all surfaces.

MAC-716 A highly concentrated, water based, semi-permanent, release coating. This product is an economically attractive replacement to conventional releases due to its low net cost. Will not stain boards.●Release coating for mats, cauls, presses, platens, press belts and testing probes.

Release & Antistick Coatings For Wire Stripping

McGee Industries/McLube Division has recently developed several release/antistick coatings for ease of stripping between like and similar polymers. These water based coatings wet surfaces perfectly allowing for ease of application while providing excellent slip for wire stripping. Passing of Mark D. Finn

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Mark D. Finn, who spent 35 years at the McLube Division of McGee Industries Inc., died on April 10 after a long battle with cancer. He was 59.

Finn, born in Wilmington, Del., was Vice President of marketing and sales at McGee Industries, Inc., located in Aston, PA.

After earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Delaware, Finn joined McLube’s sales team. He later earned his master’s degree from West Chester University. In 2000, Finn was promoted to Vice president of marketing and sales.

Finn was a member of several organizations, including the ACS Rubber Division; Association of Rubber Manufacturers; the Society of Tribologists; National Lubricating Grease Institute; Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering; American Composites Manufacturing Association; and the Society of the Plastics Industry.

“Mark was very well known throughout the rubber industry, and we know his presence will be missed,” the company said in a statement. “Mark was an important member of the McLube family, and we will continue with the same level of exceptional service and professionalism that our customers have always expected.”

Finn is survived by his wife, Linda DiLuzio Finn; sons Shawn D. Finn and Ryan M. Heffner, both of Kennett Square; daughters Christine E. Finn of Lexington, Va., and Kayli A. Finn of Kennett Square; and his parents, George and Anne Arnold Finn of Lewes, Del.

Water Based Molybdenum Disulfide Forging Lubricant & Bonded Dry Film Lubricant

The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a water-based molybdenum disulfide forging lubricant and bonded dry film lubricant. The dry lubricant coating resulting after evaporation of the water has excellent adhesion to most substrates and exhibits a low coefficient of friction, high load-carrying ability, and good durability. The product McLube MoS2-900 will protect and increase the life of the die. Due to its excellent and superior performance attributes current users have found the product to be an economical alternative to currently used forging lubricants. McLube MoS2-900 is also recommended to be used as a general purpose, dry lubricant for metal forming and a range of other industrial uses, including: all types of sliding surfaces; mechanical parts; threaded connections, conveyors, guide posts, O-rings, seals, sleeve bearings, spline drives, and others. It’s also recommended as a run-in lubricant. Surfaces to be coated should be clean and dry. Any conventional application method can be employed – brushing, dipping, wiping or spraying. It is effective for preventing seizing, galling, and scoring, and for protection against extreme pressure. It performs well as a lubricant under dusty or moist conditions, and protects against corrosion. McLube MoS2-900 contains no oil, grease, wax, silicone, or graphite. It has a specific gravity of 1.12; weights 9.4 lb/gal., and the coefficient of friction of dry film is 0.035. Molybdenum disulfide has a load carrying capacity from 225,000 upwards to 500,000 psi, beyond the yield strength of most metals. Applied coating is effective at temperatures up to 750°F and suitable for use under cryogenic conditions. McLube Mos2-900 is chemically and thermally stable. It is environmentally and operator friendly containing no hazardous materials.

McLube Wins Innovative Product of the Year Award

McLube said its new Antifoul Alternative Speed Polish was selected by Sail magazine as a category winner in the 2012 Freeman K. Pittman Innovative Awards.

Sail’s awards are longstanding industry awards that recognize and celebrate the best and brightest new ideas in marine-equipment design and build.

The concept for the product came from carefully listening to customers and incorporating their suggestions into a cutting-edge, fully biodegradable product, the company said.

“Our customers asked us to solve the age-old problem of keeping their hulls clean when they’re left in the water for weeks at a time,” McGee Industries president Ward McClatchy said in a statement. “I think we’ve come up with an excellent, environmentally friendly solution that’s already earning industry respect.”

Mold Protective Coating

The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a mold protective coating to be used for molds in storage. McLube 1725L has proven to protect molds from rust and corrosion indefinitely. It can be simply applied by spraying or wiping a thin even film on to the mold surface. The applied coating is clear, dry and non-oily allowing for the mold to put into service without cleaning prior to the commencement of molding. Dirt, dust and other contaminants will not adhere to the applied coating. MAC-799 Water Based PTFE Lubricant

MAC-799 is a dispersion finely divided PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) particles in water. Combined with an organic binder that will bond the coating to the applied surface. New PTFE DRY FILM DISPERSIONS

The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a new PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) dispersion in IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol).

McLube PTFE Dry Film Dispersion 25, 15, and 5 are available as 25%, 15%, and 5% concentrations in isopropyl alcohol (IPA). They will provide an extremely low coefficient of friction, are chemically inert and thermally stable to 615°F. The average particles size is less than 10 microns. McLube PTFE Dispersions can be applied to all types of metal surfaces as well as plastic, rubber, leather, and fabric surfaces. They are supplied as concentrates and are normally diluted prior to their usage.

Dispersions are designed to be used in the following applications:

Dry Film Lubricants:

McLube PTFE Dry Film Dispersions have a low coefficient of friction allowing for a dry film lubricant with superior performance attributes such as thermal and chemical stability, cleanliness and excellent slip-stick properties. Coatings will increase the wear life of parts by reducing abrasion.

Applications include: electrical connectors, bearings, slides, belts, gaskets, Fasteners, fabrics, leather, rubber, plastics, gears, cables, rope, thread, locks, windows, saw blades, camera/audiovisual equipment, metalworking operations and hardcoat anodizing.

Mold Release Agents/Antistick Coatings:

McLube PTFE Dry Film Dispersions are used to mold a variety of rubber, plastic and composite parts and materials. An applied coating provides excellent adhesion allowing for multiple parts to be molded with no transfer. The dry film coating provided by McLube Dry Film Dispersions will provide a synergy of antistick as well as lubricity characteristics.

Applications include: rubber, plastic and composite parts and materials, Mandrel lubrication, filament winding, SMC molding, cables and wiring.

NANO Technology Mold Release Agent

McLube has developed a new mold release agent and coating, MAC-968, which uses Nano Technology. MAC-968 is a water-based colloidal dispersion of nanoparticles. The product provides a durable semi-permanent release surface that requires no curing. This product has demonstrated performance benefits with both organic and silicone rubber parts and compounds. It exhibits excellent release and antistick properties while providing superior lubricity due to its low coefficient of friction. MAC-968 will reduce mold release usage by allowing for the maximum number of parts to be released per application. Thus, molders will improve their molding efficiency resulting in a lower operating cost. Confirmed benefits include reduced mold fouling and build-up, no transfer of the mold release to the molded part, increased mold flow while eliminating non-fills, superior release performance and reduced part rejection rate. New Water Based Semi-Permanent PTFE Release Coating

The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a new water based semi-permanent release coating based on PTFE nanoparticles. MAC-968 is a water based colloidal dispersion that has proven to provide superior release performance and durability. The product allows for improved flow properties, superior part appearance, excellent thermal stability and lubricity. It is supplied in a ready to use formulation to assure economy of usage. The product has proven to be an extremely effective release coating for all types of rubber stock such as EPDM, FKM. Neoprene, natural rubber, ECO and acrylic rubber compounds. It will provide a thin, colorless bonded film coating that will adhere tenaciously to the mold surface allowing for a maximum of parts to be molded per application. Water Based Antistick Coating for Uncured Rubber

The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a new antistick product for uncured rubber compounds and parts. MAC-863 is a water based mixture of polymeric material. It is supplied as a concentrate to assure economy of usage. The product has proven to be an extremely effective antistick coating for all types of rubber stock. It will provide a thin, colorless film coating that can be used on both black and colored stock. The product will not contaminate the rubber stock allowing for superior part appearance. Water Based Lubricant for Rubber Parts

Water Based SEMI-PERMANENT Mold Release Agent

McLube has developed a new water based semi-permanent mold release for organic rubber compounds and parts called MAC-973. The product will reduce mold release usage by allowing for the maximum number of parts to be released per application of the mold release. Thus, molders will improve their molding efficiency resulting in a lower operating cost. Proven benefits include reduced mold fouling and build-up, no transfer of the mold release to the molded part, increased mold flow while eliminating non-fills, superior release performance and reduced part rejection rate. The McLube Division of McGee Industries, Inc. has developed a new water based semi-permanent release coating for synthetic, natural and silicone rubber parts and elastomers. Products are designed for maximum releases per application with no transfer or mold build-up. Molds will stay cleaner longer providing increased productivity. McLube semi-permanent water based mold release coatings are designed for the injection, transfer and compression molding of rubber parts. They have proven to be extremely effective with peroxide cured compounds, high filler content, and other difficult to mold compounds. Can be used with FKM, HNBR, polyacrylates, CPE, butyl, polybutadene, natural, neoprene, ECO, as well as silicone rubber. Products are operator and environmentally friendly containing no hazardous material. Product attributes include maximum durability, improved flow properties, elimination of knit lines and voids, increased productivity, reduced scrap rate, ease of release, elimination of mold build- up and economy of use.
