McLube 1725L - PTFE Mold Release Agent

PTFE-based mold release and lubricant that does not require a curing step, dries in seconds and protects mold surfaces from corrosion during storage.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance - White, translucent dispersion
  • Dispersing medium - Solvent blend-heptane, ethanol, butyl acetate
  • Specific gravity - 0.78
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.) - 6.5

Application Method:

Apply to a clean, dry surface free of previous release coatings, waxes and grime. A solvent cleaner such as McLube Mold Cleaner can be used to prep the mold surface. McLube 1725L is intended for use as received. Mix the product thoroughly before application and periodically during use. Any conventional method can be used for application - spraying, dipping, wiping or brushing. Apply a thin, even coating followed by a second coat once the solvent has evaporated from the first. Coat the mold after every cycle for the first two or three cycles. Once the mold is conditioned, you will be able to achieve multiple releases per application.

Protective Coating: Apply two coats of 1725L to a clean mold before storage. There will be no need to clean the mold when it is brought back into service, although we recommend wiping it down with a soft, non-linen cloth.

Safety and Handling:

Review the Safety Data Sheet for McLube 1725L before using the product. The product is flammable and should be kept away from heat, sparks and flame. Use only with adequate ventilation in enclosed areas. The active ingredients are essentially nontoxic, but temperatures above 550°F may form harmful substances. Smoking should not be permitted while using McLube 1725L, and contamination of tobacco products should be avoided. Appropriate safety equipment should be worn at all times while working with 1725L.
