MAC 860 Water Based Semi-Permanent Mold Release Agent

Semi-permanent mold release agent and coating provides excellent release and durabilty. Usable to 1100°F.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance................Milky, white liquid
  • Dispersing medium.....................Water
  • Specific gravity............................1.0
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.)...............8.3

Application Method:

MAC-860 should be applied as received but can be diluted with deionized water. Typical dilutions range from one to four parts deionized water to one part MAC-860. It can be applied to hot or cold molds, but preheating the mold to at least 200°F will facilitate evaporation of the water. Proper application of the release coating will help achieve the maximum number of releases per application. Clean the mold with a suitable solvent or an abrasive cleaner to remove previous release agents or other contamination. McLube Mold Cleaner may be used. Apply a finely atomized, light, even spray to the mold. After allowing the water to evaporate, a second coat should be applied. The mold should then be heated to 300°F or higher and held for at least five minutes to effect curing of the release film. For touch-up, MAC-860 should be sprayed as a fine mist to the hot mold.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet should be reviewed before using MAC-860. None of the ingredients in MAC-860 is considered hazardous; however, good industrial practice suggests the use of safety glasses and gloves. Product should be protected from freezing. Container should be kept covered to prevent evaporation.
