McLube 2100 Colloidal Dispersion of PTFE/Water Based Mold Release Agent

McLube 2100 is a colloidal dispersion of finely divided polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles in water. It forms a clear, dry, colorless film coating that is extremely durable. It has proven to provide excellent release and anti-stick properties for a variety of rubber compounds and plastic parts.

Technical Data:

  • Color and appearance..................Translucent, off-white colloidal dispersion
  • Dispersing medium......................Water
  • Specific gravity............................1.01
  • Weight per gallon (lbs.)................8.4

Application Method:

McLube 2100 is intended to be applied as received to clean, dry surfaces. All previously used release products and any compound residue should be removed by an appropriate method. It can be applied to room temperature surfaces but application to hot surfaces (180ºF or higher), will allow for faster drying of the coating. Application can be accomplished by spraying a thin, even film over the entire surface to be treated and allowing to dry. To assure complete coverage, apply a second coating. Proceed to mold as usual. McLube 2100 will provide superior release performance for a number of parts. Reapplication can be accomplished by applying only one coating as needed.

Safety and Handling:

The Material Safety Data Sheet should be reviewed prior to using the product. The active ingredients in McLube 2100 are essentially nontoxic, but heating the solids above 550ºF may result in possible formation of harmful fumes. Smoking should not be permitted while using the product and contamination of tobacco products should be avoided. Freezing of the product should be avoided, but if it occurs, it is possible to restore product uniformity with mechanical agitation.
