Many parts require post-finishing operations in order to perform a specific function or meet end user specifications. Some post-finishing operations require uniform adhesion of paints or glues to the part surface which can be disrupted, or altogether prevented, by silicone release agents transferred to the part during molding. Some manufacturers are forced to add an extra cleaning step to their process in order to remove residual silicone oils from parts. These cleaning steps are often unreliable, costly, and time-consuming for molders and ultimately result in fewer finished parts per shift. Furthermore, inevitable migration of silicone oils from the molding area to paint shops or gluing/ bonding stations can cause poorer quality parts or even shutdown plants indefinitely while ventilation systems and surfaces are decontaminated.
McLube® offers a full line of silicone-free release agents for a variety of materials that will not interfere with post-finishing steps involving adhesives and paints. Our silicone-free mold release technology may even allow molders to remove part washing steps entirely from their process to reduce overall cost and improve efficiency.
